An initiative led by Carnegie Mellon University to research and provide education about secure computing and communications systems
Carnegie Mellon CyLab is an initiative with a goal of making partnerships between the public and private sectors that develop new technologies in the areas of information security and the protection of the national information infrastructure. CyLab involves more than 200 faculty, students and staff at Carnegie Mellon University. It mainly delivers the following benefits:
- Standards and adoption frameworks
- Informed legislation
- Awareness and education
The Information Networking Institute is the educational partner of CyLab. CyLab also works closely with the CERT Coordination Center (CERT/CC) and US-CERT.
The mission of CyLab is to:
- Develop and deploy technologies for next-generation response and prediction
- Advance the state-of-the-art in measurable, available, secure, trustworthy and sustainable computing and communication systems through an aggressive and industry-enabled research and development agenda
- Create cyberawareness at all levels and educate individuals through innovative curricula
- Impact the state-of-practice and stimulate economic development through rapid technology transition and deployment
