Computer forensics is the practice of using computer science and technology to investigate crimes that were committed using computers and computer systems such as the Internet.

Computer forensics can be performed by government agencies or private and public consulting companies. These companies investigate hard drives, registry logs, and operating systems to track down hackers and criminals.
